How to Find an Iphone if Its Dead

Have you ever lost misplaced your iPhone? Remember that feeling of panic creeping in, especially if you know that your iPhone battery might probably be already dead? Thanks to Apple considering this scenario and creating a feature around it, you don't have to feel this way anymore. The latest iPhones are designed so that even if their cellular data or Wi-Fi is turned off, you would still be able to find its location through Bluetooth.

But what if it's already turned off? What if your iPhone already ran out of battery juice? You can still find your lost iPhone by tracking its last known location. Features like the iCloud and the Find My app will help you locate your lost iPhone. There are several ways to do this using various methods to be discussed below.

Setting Up the Find My App

In order to find your lost iPhone, you must make sure that you've already set up your Find My app. It's usually one of the first things you set up when you get a new iPhone. The Find My app is a security feature that enables users to locate their Apple devices. You also have to ensure that you have Offline Finding enabled on your settings using iOS 13 or later. That way, your iPhone won't have to be connected to the internet or even turned on for you to spot its location.

In addition, you also have to make sure that the Send Last Location feature is enabled on your iPhone. This will allow you to see where your lost iPhone was right before it ran out of battery juice. Here are the steps to take to make sure that you'll find your iPhone in case it goes missing and it runs out of battery:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on the name located at the top of the screen.
  3. Choose Find My.
  4. Enable Share My Location if you want trusted family members or friends to see the location of your iPhone.
  5. Tap on Find My iPhone.
  6. Enable Find My iPhone.
  7. Select OK.
  8. Enable the Offline Finding feature.
  9. Enable the Send Last Location feature.

Finding Your Lost iPhone Using Your iPad

If you have an iPad as well, you can actually use it to track your lost iPhone even if the latter's battery is already dead. You would be able to see your iPhone's last location before its battery died using the Find My app on your iPad. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Open the Find My app on your iPad.
  2. Go to the Devices tab.
  3. A map will appear showing you all your Find My enabled Apple devices.
  4. Your lost iPhone should appear on the map and sidebar with an iPhone image. If it's turned on, it would show an active Home screen. If it's turned off, it would show a blank iPhone screen.
  5. Choose your iPhone from the list of devices.
  6. Tap on Directions to know how to get to your lost iPhone's general location.
  7. Enable Notify When Found so that you'll get a notification on your iPad once your iPhone is turned on.

Find Your Lost iPhone Using Someone Else's Device

You can also locate your lost iPhone by using a trusted person's Apple device. Here's the way to do it:

  1. Using a trusted person's Apple device, open the Find My app.
  2. Go to the Me tab.
  3. Select Help A Friend.
  4. You will be prompted to sign in to your iCloud account. Instead of logging in using Touch or Face ID, choose Use Different Apple ID.
  5. Enter your iCloud ID and password and sign in.
  6. You will be prompted to save your password. Choose Not Now.
  7. You can now try locating your lost iPhone using the steps provided above.
  8. Once you're done using this feature, find and tap on your name located at the top right corner of the screen in the Find My app.
  9. Tap on Sign Out.

Finding Your Lost iPhone Using A Computer

Another way to look for your missing iPhone is by using a computer. You can use the Find My app on your laptop or computer through your browser. Here are the steps to find your lost iPhone using a computer:
